Hudson Mile
Sat 11 July 2026
It’s simple, direct and honest; too short for strategy to unfold, yet too long to sprint without consequence. The mile asks runners to commit to a pace, to a moment, to the effort ahead.
In Hudson, New York, that commitment begins on Warren Street.
The Hudson Mile sends runners down one straight mile through the heart of town, starting just above 8th Street and descending toward the river. The course drops roughly 90 feet or 27 metres along the way, creating a fast, flowing route that encourages bold strides and confident pacing. The event has earned a reputation as the fastest mile in the Hudson Valley.
Warren Street is the center of Hudson’s creative and historic community. Brick buildings line the road. Antique shops, galleries, and cafés sit side by side along the sidewalks. On race evening, the everyday street transforms into a runway for runners.
Spectators gather along the blocks. Music and conversation drift through the air as runners warm up near the start line.
Then the mile begins.
The first steps come quickly, the downhill drawing the field forward. The pack stretches out as runners settle into the pace they intend to hold. In a mile race, there’s no time to ease into the effort, you’re already in it.
Block by block, Warren Street passes beneath their feet. Cheers echo between buildings. Each stride carries runners closer to the river and closer to the finish.
The beauty of the Hudson Mile lies in its clarity: one distance, one street, one shared moment between runners and the community around them.
A few minutes after the start, the finish line comes into view near Promenade Hill Park. The effort peaks, the clock stops, and runners slow to a jog, catching their breath as the Hudson River stretches out just beyond the hill.
For one mile, on one evening, Hudson becomes a place where speed, community, and running meet in the simplest way: a straight road, a fast race, and the shared excitement of chasing the finish line.
