Held each December along the sun-kissed coastline of Bangsaen – just 60 minutes from Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport – Bangsaen21 has established itself as one of the most celebrated road races on the global calendar.

Supported by Adidas, and proudly holding the World Athletics Platinum Label continuously since 2023, it holds the distinction of being the world’s first half marathon to have achieved this honour (Platinum Label) – a pioneer that inspired a new global standard.

The numbers alone tell a compelling story. Over 50,000 runners apply each year for just 13,000 places, making Bangsaen21 the most competitive race entry in Thailand. Selection is by lottery, ensuring fairness. A guaranteed international quota of 1000 places is reserved annually for runners from outside Thailand, welcoming athletes from more than 50 countries to the start line.

The fastest half marathon times ever recorded on ASEAN soil have been set here. That legacy is written by the calibre of those who choose to race. Nine former World Marathon Major champions have competed at Bangsaen21, among them Tigst Assefa, Helen Obiri, Sisay Lemma, and Alexander Mutiso Munyao. Their presence speaks to the quality of a race that the world’s best trust to deliver.

The course is flat and fast, hugging the Gulf of Thailand coastline with a warm sea breeze as a constant companion. More than 2000 local supporters line the route, filling every kilometre with colour, music, and the unmistakable warmth of Thai hospitality. For international runners, it is the kind of crowd that carries you to a personal best you did not know you had in you.
