ASICS Austrian Women’s Run
Sun 31 May 2026
The 38th ASICS Austrian Women’s Run, held on 31 May 2026 in Vienna’s Prater, was far more than a running event – it was a weekend filled with energy, emotion and unforgettable goosebump moments.
A total of 31,113 women and girls from 87 nations came together to celebrate movement, courage, community and female empowerment. Whether they were running for a personal best, crossing a finish line for the first time, sharing the experience with friends and family or simply enjoying the atmosphere, every participant brought her own reason to the start. Together, they brought our 2026 motto, HERE FOR MORE, to life.
The event also delivered outstanding sporting performances. In the 5k elite race, Purity Kajuju Gitonga of Kenya won in 14:41 minutes, setting a new course record and achieving a new personal best. Taylor Werner of the USA finished second in 15:29, followed by Belgium’s Lisa Rooms in 15:33. Austria’s Lisa Redlinger placed fourth overall in 15:36 and was the fastest Austrian athlete.
A second course record was set in the 10k race, where Austrian Olympian Julia Mayer claimed victory in 33:34 minutes. The 10k event also reached a new registration record with 7,230 participants. This number of participants makes the ASICS Austrian Women ́s Run 10k race the biggest 10k race in Austria.
In total, 67 national and international elite athletes took part, including 55 Austrian athletes. At the same time, the ASICS Austrian Women’s Run continued its commitment to the next generation through youth development awards in the U16, U18 and U20 categories.
The atmosphere throughout the weekend was just as memorable as the sporting achievements. From the first starting signal to the final finisher crossing the line, the Prater was filled with cheering, smiling faces, personal victories and emotional moments. Friends ran side by side, mothers crossed the finish line with their daughters, and thousands of spectators celebrated every participant.
On Saturday, 30 May, around 3,000 girls and boys also took part in the Kinderlauf (Children’s Run) powered by KoRo, gaining their first racing experiences and being welcomed at the finish with medals, finisher bag applause and proud families.
The 38th ASICS Austrian Women’s Run once again demonstrated what can happen when women and girls come together through sport. It was a powerful celebration of strength, visibility, sport, mutual support and joy – an experience that will remain with us far beyond the finish line.
