An international feel

As the capital’s official marathon, the event welcomes more than 8000 runners from 50 countries, bringing together people of different ages, backgrounds and abilities for a weekend of running in the heart of Nicosia. It is a race with an international feel, but one that remains closely connected to the character of the city.

The route takes runners through some of Nicosia’s most recognisable landmarks including the Liberty Monument, Famagusta Gate and the narrow, charming streets of the Old Town. Along the way ancient walls and historic buildings sit alongside the everyday life of a modern capital. It is this contrast that makes running here so distinctive.

For a runner the experience changes as the kilometres pass. The excitement of the start gradually gives way to the familiar rhythm of finding your pace, settling into your breathing and focusing on the road ahead. The Bank of Cyprus Nicosia Marathon offers a Half Marathon, a 10km race, a 5km Road Race, a 5km Corporate Race and a 1km Kids’ Race. Whether you are chasing a personal best, taking on your first race, or looking for a shared experience with family and friends, there is a distance for everyone.
