Founded in 2005 Correcaminos was at first a group dedicated to running marathons in different destinations around the world. We have expanded our mission to include actively helping people to achieve their goals and to share feelings of solidarity.

To this end the "La Correcaminos” race was founded. We have staged the race for seven years, raising funds through our non-profit organisation.

The route was designed to appeal to the senses and help visitors to discover our country and city. The journey begins in the low lands of historical Cartago, the location of the impressive Irazú Volcano, and progresses through the coffee plantations of Tres Rios before descending into the heart of our capital. San José is located in the central valley and offers many sites of interest including the Presidential Palace, the Supreme Court, National Museum, National Congress, National Park and parliament and a passage along the elegant and well-known Paseo Colon. All three distances on offer finish in the beautiful Sabana Park. The marathon is a Boston Qualifier.

Costa Rica undoubtedly offers some of the most challenging hills and terrain but the course offers mainly downhill thrills and is considered one of the fastest races in the country. Come some days before and visit the Expo Correcaminos in the National Stadium — one of the most spectacular buildings in Central America.

The race offers the perfect excuse to escape to one of the most touristic and appealing places in the world. The national territory extends a length of 320km and includes both Pacific and Caribbean coasts. A huge variety of landscapes and microclimates are contained within an area only 51,000 square km. Our natural habitat is presented in more than 20 national parks and eight nature reserves.
