Malta Marathon

Race information
The Malta Marathon was first held in 1986 with just 109 participants. The Malta Half Marathon was added from 1987. The Malta Marathon is by far the most popular athletic event in Malta with a record number of 6000 participants in 2026. Both courses are also by far the fastest on the island. The routes boast fantastic scenery with a mix of historical landmarks, countryside and urban areas. The last 5km of both courses pass along the yacht creeks of Malta’s famous Grand Harbour. Numerous live bands encourage the runners along the route.
